One week to go

There is one week left to go to my trip and Im pretty nervous about it all. I feel that I am in no way prepared for the trip yet. I havent even packed or decided what im taking. Ive been running around trying to organise everything. What does one take on a trip? Besides my pills and black book what else should I be taking?

I will be gone for a long time with the possibility of not returning if things look up.

I have my farewell saturday night and im pretty sure that will bring about some incidents!

Getting Kicked Out of Docks was only the begining....

Saturday night we decided to go to Docks with some of my friends. Little did I know what was to come of the night. One thing lead to another and before I knew it getting kicked out of Docks was only the begining of the night.

We ended up at Shelbourne with a bunch of freaks. It must have been a freak show or something. There were lesbians going for it, 2 bi guys sandwiching any girl they can get in between them, the stage freak and plenty more where that came from.

Oh and I realise we made a pack to never speak of that mobile phone again but that was funny! Nothing beats calling random numbers. One for the records!

Bags of Money

I had to pay for my trip the other day. My travel agent being my cousin asked if we can pay him cash, so I had to walk up to the bank which is smack bang on the other side of auburn. I had to withdrawn a large sum of money and hope to god that I don't get mugged in the next 10minutes. My cousin decides to send me his bodyguard on duty. So the guy comes and meets me in the bank and he looks more like a mugger himself. So were both walking up auburn rd, me nervous as hell. Im walking and thinking if I get mugged I won't be able to go on this holiday. Finally we arrived in the office and I realised that my heart must have stopped beating for that 10mins.

The Foreign Exchange Incident

Preparing for this trip has started to get really exhausting. The other day I went to get some amercian dollars from an foreign exchange place in auburn. The girl serving us had no idea what the hell was going on. First she made a mistake and was exchanging the money to us from 71.5 rather than 69.9. This was a good deal for me but she soon realised that she would be giving me more than she should. Finally when she fixed her mistake I agreed to buy $400 worth of american dollars. She made me sign papers and show her my licence for some reason and then realised that she only had $40 of american dollars. For crying out loud woman why didnt you check in the first place instead of wasting 25minutes of my time. Inconsiderate people!!!

No Fears & No Regrets

Things have been moving at full speed in the last couple of months. On new years I promised myself I would try new and more xciting things this year and I have. I have tried going to different places, eating new foods, finishing off what i left off and most importantly im getting ready to travel different countries.

Last night I returned to the radio to do my last 2 nights of class in order to get my newsradio certificate and demo tape. At first I didnt want to do it but with everyone on back saying just do it, why wont u do it. I decided to do it. I rocked up to class, keeping in mind that its been a year since ive been there. David White from 2day fm was the teacher for the night. I was quite nervous especially when we hit the studios. The funny part was I ran into Alia, who used to be a volunteer with me at 2day fm. It was good catching up with her. I also met David - who does volunteer work with me now at MIX.

The moment came. I had to go into the news booth and read the news. David white had my demo tape ready to record. I sat in the chair feeling nervous as hell thinking why am i doing this. I knew there was no turning back now. I put my headphones on, pressed the mic on and hola it was all good. I felt nervous reading the first story but the it felt good. It felt good being behind the mic again. I loved the feeling of reading news and having the power to influence people and listeners. Even though I stuffed up alittle bit I still felt good.

We had a break and then we had to rewrite a news bulletin. I was back on air again. This time I felt more confident and gave my best shot only to realise David White forgot to press record on my tape. So we went to take 2. This time David some how only recorded half of my reading. Never the less Ive decided to practice before my next class. Im thinking if I can get a demo tape organised in time, I can take it to London with me and see if anything happens there. Who knows I may end up in London reading news.

It was quite funny talking to David about Austereo. He was telling me that they refused to renew his contract 2 days before it ended. Austereo has a habit of not renewing contracts or informing people on whether they have a job next week or not.

So in conclusion one should not have fears and no regrets. I have always had regrets in not getting my certificate and demo tape. I think this may be a stepping stone for me. London here I come................
